Wow, what a turn out today and to have such wonderful weather for the Open House and Swap Meet. Thank you to everyone who volunteered today and made our open house a very successful one once again. Many thanks to everyone who came out and purchased their club memberships. It really does help with having this all done before first race day.
Edmonton BMX would also like to welcome all our new riders for 2013. There is alot of you so I won’t be able to name you all but we do hope you enjoy your 2013 bmx race season.
If you haven’t purchased your riders licenses on line, do it this week before coming to the track. We need this done before your riders can go on the track. Of course, you will not receive your license before first race day but print off the zone 4 receipt and bring it with you to show proof of purchase and confirmation for insurance purposes. You may also receive a temporary emailed copy of your license as well, so print that off and bring with you.
If you don’t have proof of the 2013 license, you will not be able to ride on Saturday and that would be devastating to your riders.
Monday and Tuesday, April 29th and 30th is the Orientation nights for new riders.Please attend one of those two nights. 6:30pm Sharp. Riders and their parents should attend if they have never experienced bmx racing. We will go over some rules, how to register each night of racing, race cancellation policies, how to read moto sheets, information sheets, and what to expect for first race day. This way every one is on the same page for the first race of the year. It is much easier for the parents and the riders and it also keeps the races organized if everyone has an idea on how we operate. This will take approximately a half hour and then the kids can get on the track and ride for the remainder of the evening until track closes at 8:30pm. If parents have questions, we can answer them for you while the riders get out on the track.
Wednesday, May 1st Open Practice Warm up your legs and ride the track, prepare for first race day. Need some tips, ask some of experienced riders to work with you. We can also set up the new riders to ride with you to make you feel more comfortable.
Remember to not wear any jeans during practices and races.
May 4th First race of the year Registration closes at 11:30am
Information sheets will be posted at 11:35ish(everyone will need to be there to check these in person)
Changes need to be made by noon
Motos should be posted by 12:30ish
Racing will begin at 1:00pm
We have May calendars at the track with all the race/practice dates on them if you want to pick one up or give me an email and I will email you one as well.
If you have a friend who may like to try bmxing for a one time trial without a license needed, bring them out on May 26th, times will be announced this upcoming week.
Well, that is it for now. Just finished inputting all your new emails into our contact list, and we are as organized as we possibly can be at this point so now we just need to keep having good weather. If you all can do your part by submitting for you licenses on line through the ABA website, and purchasing your club memberships at the track, being on time for the orientations and for first race day, we will be very successful.
Any rider who is planning on racing this upcoming Saturday and they own their own bikes, you will need to purchase a Number plate from the track and have it on your bike for May 4th. Purchase these before May 4th PLEASE. If you are using one of our loaner bikes, there is number plates on those already.

As per UCI rules jeans will no longer allowed. Sorry , but our insurance could be void if we do not follow rules and guidelines set by our governing body.
